‘Ice Man’ wins age group at half marathon

BILLINGS — Chris “Ice Man” Tippett won his age group at the Montana Marathon Sunday.

Tippett won the 55-59 men’s age group, finishing the 13.1-mile course in 1 hour, 30 minutes, 19 seconds. Tippett beat second-place Jim Young Dejorgh of Billings by nearly 5 minutes.

Butte’s Rande Farrow placed third at 1:38:12, while Chip Todd of Butte finished in 1:48:01.

Jamie Waldorf of Butte placed ninth in the women’s 25-29 age group with a time of 1:54:55, while Pamela Hanson-Deichl and Chris Nehls also finished the half marathon in the women’s 45-49 group.

In the 10-kilometer race, Butte’s Melissa Johnson placed seventh in the 30-34 women’s age group. She finished in 57:25. Pam Palagi placed seventh in the 40-44 women’s group, also in 57:25.

Barry and Barb Brophy of Butte also completed the 10k.
