Life has a funny way of telling you it’s time to go. And if you don’t make the choice it will for you.

No Raises. No Praise. Just blame and a guaranteed pay check. 4.5 years at a company. For what?

You only hear about it when something’s wrong.

When the numbers dip.

When the big dogs’ pockets aren’t filling up, while they give orders from home on a teams call on their juicy 6 figure salary in sweat pants and open toed shoes, but will be the very one to call you out for wearing anything similar.

Then suddenly it’s your effort. Your fault. Your problem.

No conversations when things are going well.
No “you’re doing a hell of a job.” “Way to step up this month.”

Just pressure.

And after a while, that tells you everything you need to know.

Boss vs. Leader

Here’s the truth that really pushed me over the edge:

I didn’t have a leader.

I had a boss. Two of them.

A boss stands on the sideline with a clipboard.
A leader steps onto the field with you.

A boss waits for something to go wrong so they can call it out.
A leader jumps in before it gets there and helps fix it.

A boss protects their position.
A leader protects their people.

And this is the part that didn’t sit right with me—

When someone is doing more than their job title…
taking on extra… solving problems that aren’t theirs… keeping things moving when nobody else will…

A spineless boss stays quiet.

No recognition.
No backing.
No “I’ve got your back.”

But the second something slips?

Now they’ve got something to say.

Now they’re involved.
Now it’s your fault.

A real leader doesn’t hide when it matters.

They don’t fold under pressure from above.
They don’t pass blame down just to keep themselves clean.

They step in.
They speak up.
They take the heat when it’s not even theirs to take.

That’s leadership.

What I saw wasn’t that.

Comfort Will Kill You.

In a place where the turnover was extravagant, the place stretched thin, they don’t care who’s there to them your a number with a w2 thats it.

I stayed because I got comfortable.

Not happy. Not fulfilled. Comfortable.

There’s a difference.

Comfort tells you to wait.
Wait for the right time.
Wait for everything to line up.

That’s a lie.

The perfect time doesn’t exist.

If you keep waiting, you’ll still be there years from now wondering why nothing changed.

Because nothing changes if nothing changes.

Whose Life Are You Living?

At some point, you have to ask yourself:

Why am I building someone else’s dream?

Why am I stressing over someone else’s bonus?

Why am I asking permission to live my own life?

Permission to leave early.
Permission to take care of my kid.
Permission to be there for things that actually matter.

That’s when it hit me.

I’m done asking.

The Truth Nobody Says

And I’m not here to bash everyone working a corporate job.

There are good people in those places.

But the system?

It doesn’t care about you.

Unless you’re at the top — upper management, GM —
you’re replaceable.

Especially in sales.

You’re only as good as your last number.

And the second that slips, so does how you’re treated.

That’s the reality.

Day One

So here I am.

Day one.

No guarantees. No safety net. No perfect plan.

Just a decision.

And yeah — it’s scary.

I don’t know if this works.

But I know this—

I’m not spending another year building someone else’s dream while mine sits on the sideline.

I’m Done Playing Small

No more working for someone else’s bonus.
No more answering to people who won’t stand up for me.

No more being treated like a number.

From here on out, I build my own.

My time.
My schedule.
My life.

If I need time off, I don’t ask. I take it.

Go After the Pie

Stop settling for crumbs.

Stop waiting for someone to finally “see your value.”

They won’t.

And even if they do — it won’t be enough.

Your worth isn’t theirs to decide.

So go get it.

Take the risk.
Make the jump.
Figure it out as you go.

But don’t sit there your whole life knowing you could’ve done more.

A spineless boss will stay quiet while you carry the load… and the second something goes wrong your the bad guy.

Don’t let that be the voice that defines you.

You’re not a number.

And if that hit you…

You already know what you need to do.
