Hard work is paying off in the form of a trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for 10 young Butte weightlifters.
There, the lifters will compete in the National Youth Championships, which run Friday through Sunday at the DeVos Convention Center.
Butte athletes competing are T.J. Anderson, Cohen Andrews, Brandon Buchholz, Haley Carver, Spencer Callaghan, Stella Callaghan, Trey Driscoll, Sam Sampson, Beth Sampson and Mia Spencer.
The 10 weightlifters train at Copper City CrossFit.
Spencer and Beth Sampson will be heading to nationals for the third straight year.
“They’re pretty much how we got this all going,” said Butte weightlifting coach Kara Assaley, who has mentoring lifters at Copper City CrossFit since 2014.
