Young Butte golfers have big day at Meadow Lark

GREAT FALLS — Butte golfers had a big day Monday at the Cascade County Junior Golf Dual at the Meadow Lark Country Club.

Players from the Mining City won five of the six divisions at the seventh stop of the Southwest Montana Junior Golf Tour. Counting a tie, six Butte golfers came home with a first-place finish. (Leaderboard)

Butte’s Kaven Noctor and Ty Insko toed for the title of the Dustin Johnson Division for boys 16-17. Both players shot an 81. Fellow Butte golfer John Sullivan placed third at 86.

Jack Prigge of Butte posted another victory in the Jordan Spieth Division for boys’ 13-15 with an 82. He beat Clancy’s Preston Field by two shots. Helena’s Joseph McGreevey took third at 92.

Butte’s Chase Choquette picked up his first SWMJGT victory in the nine-hole Rickie Fowler Division. Choquette shot a 45 to beat Butte’s Gavin Roesti and Clancy’s Collin Field by five shots.

In the Lexi Thompson Division for girls 16-17, Butte’s Ella Prigge won again, shooting an 86. Butte’s MacKenzie Finnegan hit a 92 to take second, while fellow Mining City golfer Grace Luoma took third at 103.

Butte’s Kodie Hoagland posted another win in the Nelly Korda Division for girls 14-15. Helena’s Sarah Halferty took second at 90, while Kennedy Lean of Butte placed third at 100.

Helena’s Olivia McGreevey was the lone player in the nine-hole Cristie Kerr Division. She shot a 67.

Next up for the tour is the Anaconda Challenge, which is Aug. 7 at the Anaconda Country Club in Opportunity. The season-ending Old Works Championship is Aug. 12.
