CALDWELL, Idaho — Allamar Alexander scored on a 2-yard run in double overtime Saturday, and the College of Idaho beat Montana Western 48-42 in a Frontier Conference thriller at Simplot Stadium. (Stats)
The extra frames came after Western drove 80 yards to tie the game at 35 with 21 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Jon Jund hit Nate Simkins for a 56-yard pass to the College of Idaho 1-yard line to set up a 1-yard touchdown plunge by Reese Neville.
Neville added another 1-yard TD run in overtime, but Alexander matched with a 2-yard run on COI’s possession.
After a missed Western field goal in the second overtime, Alexander found the end zone for the win.
Ryan Hibbs completed 30 of 35 passes for 299 yards and a touchdown to lead the Yotes in the win. Nick Calzaretta ran for 42 yards and three touchdowns. John Kreps added touchdown.
Jund competed 23 of 30 passes for 276 yards and two scores. Both TDs wen to Trey Mounts on a day in which Simkins caught 10 passes for 174 yards.
Neville ran for 65 yards. Colton McPhee and Jund added touchdown runs.
The Bulldogs (5-3 overall and 4-3 in conference) will head to Havre to take on MSU-Northern Next Saturday. They play host to Montana Tech on Nov. 6.
The 5-2 Yotes will play at Southern Oregon next week.
