Yenor, Francis take home Frontier honors

WHITEFISH — Travis Yenor of Lewis-Clark State and Markaela Francis of Rocky Mountain College were named Frontier Conference Basketball Players of the Week, the league announced today.

Yenor took home the men’s honor, while Francis received the women’s award.

Yenor is a 6-foot-7 junior forward from Meridian, Idaho.

No. 7 Lewis-Clark State closed the regular season with two road victories. The Warriors beat Montana Western 70-67 and Rocky Mountain College 85-81.

Lewis-Clark recorded the best regular-season record in school history at 27-3.

For the week, Yenor averaged 25.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and one steal per game. He was 19 of 35 from the field (9 of 16, 3-point field goals) and 4 of 6 free throws. Yenor scored 29 points in the conference championship clinching win over Rocky.

Sindou Diallo of Montana Tech, Jaxen Hashley of the University of Providence, Adam Huse of MSU-Northern, Clayton Ladine of Rocky Mountain College and Dane Warp of Carroll College were also nominated.

Francis is a 6-foot senior from Great Falls.

No. 24 Rocky Mountain closed the regular season with a pair of home wins. The Bears beat No. 21 Lewis 71-65 and Montana Tech 72-59.

Francis averaged 30 points, nine rebounds, 3.5 assists and one steal per game. She was 23 of 33 (70 percent) from the field and 14 of 19 from the free throw line.

Tavia Rooney of Montana Tech was also nominated along with Savanna Bignell of Montana Western, Kiara Burlage of Lewis-Clark State, Sydney Hovde of MSU-Northern, Parker Esary of the University of Providence and Sienna Swannack of Carroll College.
