Yellowstone rattles Cobras in final seconds

Keegan Ferguson scored a goal in the final minute of regulation Saturday night, and the Yellowstone Quake knocked off the Butte Cobras 4-3 in an NA3HL Frontier Division game at the Butte Community Ice Center. (Stats)

Jack Harris assisted on the game-winning goal, which came with 18 seconds on the clock.

The goal also spoiled a comeback attempt by the Cobras. Nick Bradshaw and Fabian Vik scored in the third period to tie the game at 3.

Yellowstone’s Cameron Deforest scored two goals and Jaxon Call added one as Yellowstone built a 3-0 lead in the first period.

David Hanny cut into the lead with a goal late in the second. Caelin Chinery and Vik assisted on the goal that cut the lead to 3-1.

Bradshaw scored off assists from Luke Schleusner and Ross Biggerstaff 1 minute, 47 seconds into the final frame. Vik’s goal 9:05 into the third was assisted by Hanny and Chinery.

Butte, which topped Yellowstone 3-1 Friday night, outshot the Quake 57-52 in the loss. Edvin Falkenstrom registered 54 saves in goal for Yellowstone.

The Cobras (15-20-2) head to Helena to take on the Bighorns Friday night. Butte will be home against Gillette Jan. 28 and 29.
