Wrestling tourney draws nearly 1,000

The Mining City has been overtaken by wrestlers.

Nearly 1,000 wrestlers showed up for the AAU State Folkstyle Championships. The tournament began Friday night with 12 mats filled to capacity at the Butte Civic Center.

Action is set to resume at 9 a.m. Saturday and is expected to last until 9 p.m. The tournament will conclude midday on Sunday.

The Butte Wrestling Club is represented b 95 wrestlers competing.

Butte’s Kadon Queer, takes down Travis Tatkenhorst of Shepherd in a 152-pound match Friday. Tatkenhorst won by pin.
