A strong performance on the hill by Butte pitcher Cameron Johnson wasn’t enough for the Muckers to pick up a Memorial Day victory.
Johnson pitched the distance and scattered five hits, but the Muckers fell 4-1 to the Dillon Cubs in a Southern A game Monday at Copper Mountain Park. The game was a makeup of a game that was rained out.
Dillon’s Logan Wilson pitched a complete-game two-hitter to pick up the victory. Nate Simkins doubled, while Wilson and R.J. Fitzgerald singled in runs to lead the Cub offense. Jamie Richardson and Chris Carson also roped base hits.
Dillon took the lead right out of the gate, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Carson scored on an error before Fitzgerald singled to score Richardson.
Tommy Martz and Noah Reynolds singled to lead the Muckers.
The Muckers are back in action Saturday when they play host to the Gallatin Valley Outlaws.
