Williams scored 31 in Dawgs’ loss

DILLON — Dexter Williams reached a season high with 31 points Saturday night at the Straugh Gymnasium.

It wasn’t enough for the No. 25 Bulldogs, however. Five Warriors scored in double figures, and No. 3 Lewis-Clark State beat Western 92-79 in a Frontier Conference game.

Cammie Lewis’ 17 points led the way as L-C State improved to 8-2 in conference and 20-2 overall. The win also gave L-C State control over the No. 2 seed as the Frontier Conferences closes the book on January.

Doug McDanile came off the bench to score 16 for the Warriors, who also got 12 from Nick Emerson and 11 apice from Rich Tesmer and Isaiah Omamogho.

Williams, who matched Quin Smith with a team-leading seven rebounds, hit on 10 of 17 shots from the field. He hit 9 of 12 free throws.

Smith scored 12 points in the loss, while Shyke Smass tossed in 11. Also, Ryan McCarty and Demitrius Balark each scored eight, Will Woodill tossed in six and Try Scott scored three.

Next up for the Bulldogs (7-4, 14-8) is next Saturday’s trip to Billings to take on Rocky Mountain College.
