Montana Tech’s women’s basketball team held on to enact some revenge Tuesday night at the HPER Complex.
Mesa Williams poured in 22 points, and the Orediggers knocked off No. 25 University of Providence 65-61 in a Frontier Conference game. (Stats)
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Orediggers (2-4). The Argos extended that streak to four games on Monday.
Tech led 31-24 at halftime and 52-41 after three quarters before weathering a 20-13 Providence run in the fourth.
Dani Urick tossed in 11 points for the Orediggers, who got 10 points and six rebounds from Brooke Heggie. Williams, a senior, also pulled down six boards and collected three steals.
Also for the Orediggers, Tavia Rooney scored seven points to go along with seven boards, Celestina Faletoi scored six points, Madison Allen tossed in five, and Soda Rice netted four.
Emilee Maldonado scored 22 points to lead the Argos (1-1). Kersttyn Pimperton added 16 points, and Parker Esary scored 14 points and grabbed 10 boards.
The Orediggers are back at home Saturday and Sunday when they host Rocky Mountain College for a pair of Frontier Conference games.
