Will Silk brings home gold, Hanna Kluck wins bronze

CALGARY — Four sixth-grade speed skaters from Hillcrest Elementary School represented Butte, Montana, and the United States over the weekend at the Alberta Open Indoor Long Track Meet.

Will Silk brought home the gold medal for the all-around champion in the 11-12 boys’ age group. Hanna Kluck captured the bronze medal in the girls’ 11-12 group.

Autumn Silk and Kaleb Paddock also skated in the Canadian meet.

Will Silk won three of four events to score 3,086 overall points. Jonnathan McIntosh of Lethbridge placed second at 2,197. Silk won the 1,200-, 500- and 300-meter races.

The four will represent Hillcrest in the School Races Saturday at the United States High Altitude Sports Center.
