Gage Thompson registered a hat trick Friday night to lead the Gillette (Wyoming) Wild to a 6-1 win over the Butte Cobras at the Butte Community Ice Center. (Stats)

Ethan Becker, George Stilson and Jacob Kaminski added goals for the Wild, who outshot Butte 75-24. Aaron Lachance turned away 23 shots to get the win in net.

Alec Sorby scored off a Charles Blandin assist for Butte’s lone goal. Karl Zodda put up a solid effort between the pipes. He stopped 69 shots.

The teams play again Saturday night at the Community Ice Center. The puck drops at 7:30.
