Wild edge Cobras in OT

A goal by Austin Newson in overtime lifted the Gillette (Wyoming) Wild to a 3-2 win over the Butte Cobras Saturday night at the Butte Community Ice Center. (Stats)

The overtime goal, which came 4 minutes, 23 seconds into the extra frame, completed the Wild’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit.

Charles Blandin scored off a Daniel Liner assist to put the Cobras up 1-0 in the first period. Blandin assisted Tyson Stovin for a goal early in the second.

Zach VanCompernolle scored in the second before Gage Thompson found the back of the net to tie the game in the third.

Gillette keeper Shane Phillips saved 36 shots in the win. Butte’s Karl Zodda turned away 58 shots.

The Cobras are back at home next Friday and Saturday against Missoula and Bozeman.
