Wibaux, Fairview will play for third

Wibaux and Fairview won loser-out games Saturday morning during the Class C State boys’ basketball tournament at the Butte Civic Center.

Fairview downed Denton-Geyser-Stanford 53-41 in the first game of the morning. Wibaux knocked off Superior 51-47 in the second game.

Wibaux and Fairview will play for third place at 6:30 tonight.

Monte Cayko scored 18 points, and Justin Biever scored 17 to lead Fairview (24-3). Ty Martin and Kendall Carpenter each scored 10 to lead Denton-Geyser-Stanford, which closed the season at 21-5.

Chase Bertelsen’s 18 points led Wibaux, which takes a 25-2 record into the third-place game. Jacob Bakken scored 10, and Connor Leach tossed in 10.

Wyatt Zylawy scored 13 points to lead Superior. The Bobcats, who are coached by Butte native Chris Toivonen, close the season at 24-2.
