HOUSTON — Butte High graduate Abigail Wheeler helped the University of New Mexico swim team place fifth at the Phill Hansel Invitational over the weekend.

The meet was hosted by the University of Houston.

Wheeler, a senior, placed fifth in the 200-yard butterfly Sunday night with a time of 2 minutes, 1.81 seconds. On Saturday, Wheeler raced to fourth place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.96 and fourth in the C final of the 100 backstroke in 56.22.

Wheeler, who graduated from Butte High in 2013, is coming off a junior season in which she earned All-Mountain West honors in the 200 butterfly.

Next up for Wheeler and the Lobos is a Dec. 3 home meet against Air Force and Colorado State in Albuquerque.
