SALT LAKE CITY — It’s beginning to look like a habit.
Westminster College’s women’s basketball team used a big second half for a lopsided win. This time it was Carroll College who fell victim to the Griffins in the final 20 minutes.
Westminster outscored the Saints 33-17 in the second half en route to a 63-48 win in the Frontier Conference championship game Monday night.
Nicole Yazzie poured in 18 points to lead three Griffins in double figures as Westminster improved to 27-3 on the season. Allie Eastman scored 12, while Tia Papas came off the bench to score 11.
Megan Patterson scored 18 points to lead Carroll (20-9), which led 31-30 at halftime. Bailey Snelling scored nine points, and Butte High graduate Joey O’Neill scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in the loss.
The Griffins receive an automatic berth in the national tournament. The Saints will undoubtedly move on as well.
