Montana Western running back Hunter Thomsen was named the Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today.
Thomsen, a 6-foot, 185-pound junior Great Falls Russell product, led then-No. 22 Montana Western to a 26-10 season-ending win over Rocky Mountain College Saturday in Billings.
Thomsen rushed for 196 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries in the win. He scored on runs of 14, 4, 1 and 49 yards.
Quinn McQueary of Montana Tech was also nominated along with Brenden Kelly of Eastern Oregon, Marcus Lenhardt of College of Idaho and Tyrell McGee of Rocky Mountain.
Defensive Player of the Week: Nate Moore, College of Idaho, 5-foot-10, 170-pound senior safety from Meridian, Idaho. In College of Idaho’s 31-13 conference road win over MSU-Northern, Moore recorded six solo tackles, eight assisted tackles, one tackle for loss (-1-yds) and one pass break-up. His 14 for the game gave him 119 for the season, a new College of Idaho record.
Also nominated: T.J. Benson of Montana Western, Chase Bertelsen of Rocky Mountain, Gunnar Kayser of Montana Tech and Tucker Stanley of Eastern Oregon.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Nathan Harden, Eastern Oregon, 6-foot, 175-pound sophomore punter/kicker from Graham, Wash. In then No. 9 Eastern Oregon’s 27-17road conference win over Carroll College, Harden had four punts for 184 yards including one for 60-yards. He was 3 of 3 in PAT’s and kicked two field goals. Harden also had a fake punt where he rushed for 28 yards.
