WHITEFISH — Montana Western safety Jesse McCloud was named the Frontier Conference defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Eastern Oregon quarterback Zach Bartlow was named offensive Player of the Week, while his teammate Jace Billingsley took home the special teams award for the first week of the season.
McCloud, a 6-foot, 196-pound senior from Manhattan, picked off two passes in Saturday’s 38-6 win over Montana Tech in Dillon. He was also credited with two solo tackles and one assisted tackle in the win. Bryon Benson of Eastern Oregon was also nominated for the honor.
Bartlow, 6-foot, 195-pound sophomore from Waltsberg, Washington, competed 23 of 33 passes for 391 yards and four TDs in the Mountaineers 45-27 win at Menlo College. He also ran for a touchdown. Western’s Tyler Hulse was also nominated for the award.
Billingley, a 5-9, 185-pound junior receiver from Winnemucca, Nevada, returned a kickoff 40 yards for Eastern Oregon. Joe Coker of Montana Western received a nomination for the award.
