WHITEFISH — Montana Western’s Brianna King was named the Frontier Conference Women’s Basketball player of the Week for the second straight week, the league announced Monday.
Matt Wyman of Carroll College took home the men’s honor.
King, a 5-foot-5 senior guard from Spokane, Washington, earned the honor for the third time this season. No. 9 Montana Western won both of their games at the 2018 Hampton Inn Green and Gold Classic in Billings. The Bulldogs beat Dickinson State (N.D.) 103-56 and The King’s University 79-40.
King averaged 23 points, 2.5 rebounds, two assists and 2.5 steals. She was 16 of 26 from the field (62 percent), including 5 of 10, 3-point field goals and 9 of 11 (82 percent) from the free throw line.
Alecia Chamberlin of Rocky Mountain College and Danielle Wagner of Carroll College were also nominated.
Wyman is a 6-7 senior guard from Great Falls. The third-ranked Saints won their only game of the week, a 76-68 Frontier Conference victory over Montana Tech.
In the win, Wyman scored 20 points, pulled down 12 rebounds, had two assists and three steals. He was 4 of 12 from the field and 12 of 14 (86 percent) from the free throw line.
Dana Abe of Lewis-Clark State, Kooper Kidgell of Montana Western and Jared Samuelson of Rocky Mountain College were also nominated.
