WHITEFISH — Montana Western quarterback Jon Jund was named the Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound sophomore quarterback from Spring Creek, Nevada, helped lead the then-No. 19 Bulldogs to a 49-13 home win over Eastern Oregon.
Jund completed 22 of 30 passes for 378 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. He rushed for 31 yards and one touchdown on six carries.
Jet Campbell of Montana Tech, Matthew Burgess of Carroll College, Dominic Garzoli of College of Idaho and Chase Knutz of Southern Oregon were also nominated.
Defensive Player of the Week: Danny Garcia, College of Idaho
Garcia is a 5-11, 240-pound senior defensive end from Anaheim, California. In No. 10 College of Idaho’s 42-0 road conference win over Rocky Mountain College, Garcia recorded five solo tackles, five assisted tackles, 3.5 quarterback sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss (-15). He set a school record of 3.5 sacks in the game. As a team, the Yotes set school records for 16 quarterback sacks in a game and 18 tackles for loss in a game.
Carter Myers of Montana Tech, Joe Caicedo of Montana Western, Collin Crown of Southern Oregon, Zackary Jacobs of Eastern Oregon, Isaiah King of Carroll College and Mason Price of Rocky Mountain College were also nominated.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Kyle Mitchell of College of Idaho
Mitchell is a 6-2, 175-pound senior kicker from Herriman, Utah. In No. 10 College of Idaho’s 42-0 road conference win over Rocky Mountain College, Mitchell was a perfect 6 of 6 on PAT attempts extending his school record of consecutive made PAT’s to 51.
Tyler Padilla of Montana Tech, Wyatt Brusven of Rocky Mountain College, Jaiden Machuca of Eastern Oregon and Stephen Powell of Carroll College were also nominated.
