WHITEFISH — Jon Jund closed the football season on a high note.
The Montana Western quarterback was named the Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound sophomore from Spring Creek, Nevada, passed for 383 yards and five touchdowns in Western’s 69-29 win over Southern Oregon Saturday in Dillon. He completed 16 of 26 passes. Jund also ran for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
The game marked the third time Jund has thrown for five touchdowns in a game this season. It marked the second time he ended with seven total touchdowns.
Trevor Hoffman of Montana Tech, Devan Bridgewater of Carroll College, Justin Hellyer of College of Idaho and Holden Ryan of Rocky Mountain College were also nominated.
Defensive Player of the Week: Keagan McCoy, College of Idaho.
McCoy is a 6-1, 215-pound sophomore defensive end from Boise, Idaho. In No. 6 College of Idaho’s 44-20 regular season finale, home conference win over MSU-Northern, McCoy recorded four solo tackles, four assisted tackles, five tackles for loss (-33 yards) and 4.5 quarterback sacks.
McCoy set a single-game school record with five tackles for loss.
Carter Myers of Montana Tech, Jason Ferris of Montana Western, Isaiah King of Carroll College and Devonte Woods of Rocky Mountain College were also nominated.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Kyle Mitchell, College of Idaho.
Mitchell is a 6-2, 175-pound senior kicker from Herriman, Utah. In No. 6 College of Idaho’s 44-20 regular season finale, home conference win over MSU-Northern, Mitchell was a perfect 5 of 5 PAT’S and 3 for 3 field goals (24, 29, 26).
Riley Garrett of Rocky Mountain College, Matt Kvech of Carroll College and Joseph Lema of Montana Western were also nominated.
