WACO, Texas — The 2018 AFCA NAIA Coaches’ All-America teams were announced today by the American Football Coaches Association, Montana Western junior linebacker Jason Ferris was named to the first-team.

In 2018 Ferris led the Frontier Conference with 125 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 15 passes defended, three interceptions, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble. The former Dillon Beaver ranked third in the nation in tackles per game, averaging 12.5. He was named First-Team All-Conference and the Defensive Player of the Year. He was named Second-Team All-Conference in 2017.

Ferris is the first Bulldogs to be named first-team All-American since A.J. Wilson received the honor in 2015.

Eastern Oregon receiver Brenden Kelly also received a first-team nod. Teammate Mick Wilson made the second team as an offensive lineman. Rocky Mountain College defensive lineman Ryder Rice and Southern Oregon punter Marcus Montano also made the second team.

The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions.
