DILLON — The Montana Western women’s basketball team busted out of a slump in a big way Saturday night at the Straugh Gymnasium.
Cierra Lamey scored 15 points to lead five Bulldogs in double figures, and Western knocked off MSU-Northern 78-58 in a Frontier Conference game. (Stats)
The win stopped a three-game losing streak for the Bulldogs, who improved to 2-4 in conference and 12-6 overall.
Brianna King scored 13 points in the win, while Tori Anderson came off the bench to score 12.
Britt Cooper had a monster game for the Bulldogs. The junior from Harrison posted a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds. Twelve of Cooper’s boards were defensive.
Paige Holmes added 10 points for Western, which clinched the victory by outscoring the Skylights 30-16 in the fourth quarter.
Northern led 34-32 at halftime.
Peyton Filius scored 19 points to place the Skylights. Jacy Thompson and Shiloh McCormick each scored 13, and Brandy Lambourne tossed in nine.
The Bulldogs have a pair of home games again next weekend. Western plays Carroll College on Thursday, and Rocky Mountain College heads to Dillon on Saturday.
