Western women stop Bears, win third straight game

DILLON — Brianna King poured in 23 points Saturday night, and Montana Western’s women’s basketball team knocked off No. 18 Rocky Mountain College 64-57 at the Straugh Gymnasium. (Stats)

The Bulldogs overcame a 31-26 halftime deficit by outscoring the Bears 38-26 in the second half.

King was one of three Bulldogs to score in double figures as Western improved to 4-4 in conference and 14-6 overall. Rocky fell to 5-3 and 15-3.

Cierra Lamey scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Paige Holmes scored 11 points.

Brooke Jones scored 16 to lead three Bears in double digits. Hailee Farstveet tossed in 13, while Markaela Francis added 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Bulldogs head north next weekend to take on the University of Providence and MSU-Northern.
