DILLON — University of Montana Western women’s basketball head coach Lindsay Woolley announced today the signing of Arlee senior Whitney Malatare to his Bulldog basketball program.
Malatare is a 5-foot-7 guard from Arlee High School, where she averaged 16.9 points per game as a senior.
Her play during her senior year garnered 2014 Lake County MVP, 2014 first-team All-State and All-Native Denver, Colo. in 2014. In addition to these accolades, Malatare earned All-State in 2013, first-team all-conference three straight years and has been a member of the Mission Valley All-Stars the past four years.
“I am excited to watch Whitney mature and continue to improve on her game,” Woolley said. “She is a combo guard with a nose for scoring. She is a terrific young woman who will be a great addition to our program.”
In addition to her basketball honors she has earned first-team all-conference honors following the 2011, 2012, 2013 seasons on the volleyball court. Malatare has also shown her athleticism on the track as Whitney was recognized as an all-state athlete following the 2011, 2013, 2014 seasons and a top ten track Russ Pilcher 2014 Class C performer.
Malatare was an honor roll student in high school and plans to major in business administration while attending Montana Western.
She is the daughter of John and Becky Malatare.
