Western women run past Lewis-Clark State

DILLON — Three Montana Western women’s basketball players scored in double figures Saturday afternoon, and the Bulldogs rolled to a 60-47 win over Lewis-Clark State College at the Straugh Gymnasium. (Stats)

The game was the Frontier Conference opener for the Bulldogs (4-0, 1-0). The Warriors fell to 9-2 overall and 1-1 in conference.

Brianna King scored 17 points and dished out five assists to lead Western, which led 56-33 after three quarters. Britt Cooper scored 15 points and pulled down seven rebounds, and Cierra Lamey added a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards.

Western also got nine points from Paige Holmes and Seven off the bench from Shannon Worster.

Jossilyn Blackman’s 11 points and six rebounds paced the Warriors. Hailey Turner scored eight, and Abby Johnson tossed in seven. Kiara Burlage, who scored four points off the bench, grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

Next up for Montana Western is Tuesday’s trip to Butte to take on Montana Tech.
