Western volleyball signs JC transfer

DILLON – The University of Montana Western head volleyball coach Lisa Griffiths has announced the signing of Kiarra Johnson to an NAIA Letter of Intent.

Johnson, a 5-foot-6 setter is a native of Idaho Falls, Idaho and a 2013 graduate from Idaho Falls High School. She is a transfer from Casper College in Casper, Wyooming. While at Casper, she recorded 1118 assists, 337 digs, 73 kills, 49 blocks and 16 service aces during one full season of play.

As a prep, Johnson was a two-time First-Team all-state setter, a First-Team High Country Conference setter and the District 5-6 Player of the Year her senior season at Idaho Falls High School.

She was an academic all-state selection for three years and on her high school’s honor roll.

“Montana Western has a strong reputation for academic excellence with the block schedule and I love the strong athletic programs and community support,”  Johnson said.

The daughter of Ted and Wendy Johnson, Kiarra plans to major in Education.

“Kiarra is a competitor with a high volleyball IQ and great volleyball experience. She is passionate about the game and a great fit personally, academically, and athletically for Montana Western,” said Head Coach Lisa Griffiths, “I am excited to add her to our volleyball family.”
