Western uses big second quarter to down S. Oregon

DILLON — Montana Western erupted for 27 second-quarter points Saturday, and the Bulldogs beat Southern Oregon 43-24 in a Frontier Conference football game at Vigilante Field. Stats

J.D. Ferris threw for two touchdowns and ran for one more, and Justin Ferris scored on an interception return to lead the Bulldogs, who won their third straight game.

J.D. Ferris completed 17 of 26 passes for 229 yards. He also ran for 34 yards. Hunter Thomsen gained 89 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.

Beau Brekke and Tyler Murray each caught a touchdown in the win.

Jack Singler threw for 400 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Raiders, who lost their third straight. He was picked off four times. Matt Retzlaff caught nine passes for 133 yards and a score.

Riley Martello, M.J. Simkins and T.J. Benson also picked off passes for the Bulldogs.
