Western splits with Carroll

DILLON — Montana Western and Carroll College split a Frontier Conference basketball doubleheader Saturday night at the Straugh Gymnasium.

The Western women edged Carroll College 58-56 (stats) before the Saints men won the nightcap 71-60 (stats).

Gracey Meyer scored off a Shannon Worster assist with 5 seconds left to lift the Bulldog women to their sixth victory in seven games.

Paige Holmes paced four Bulldogs in double figures in the win. Savanna Bignell scored 15, and Worster and Brynley Fitzgerald each scored 10.

Meyer ended with four, while Mesa King scored three.

Sienna Swannack scored 17 to lead the Saints. Christine Denney added 14 points, while Danielle Wagner scored nine.

Dane Warp scored 19 points to lead the Carroll men in the win. Shamrock Campbell tossed in 13, and Ifeanyi Okeke scored 10.

Derrek Durocher scored 16 to lead the Bulldogs, who trailed 31-29 at the half. Max Clark and Tanner Haverfield each scored 12.
