Western names three AD finalists

DILLON — The University of Montana Western Athletic Director Search Committee has identified three finalists: John Mark Adkison of Daytona Beach, Fla.; William Weidner of Brooksville, Fla.; and Jason Herbers of St. George, Utah.

The candidates will be visiting the Montana Western campus on April 3, 8 and 12. Each candidate will make a presentation to the campus and community in the Swysgood Technology Center (STC) Great Room at 3:30 p.m. on their respective interview day.

John Mark Adkison is the assistant director of athletics at Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Fla. Adkison has held the assistant director position since November 2003. His past positions include the senior marketing coordinator for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and work with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Adkison will visit the UMW campus on Wednesday, April 3.

William Weidner is the founder, president and CEO of Somebody Cares Hernando County, Inc. based in Brooksville, Fla. He has served as the deputy athletics director at the University of San Francisco and the University of Central Florida as well as the director of athletics at Weber State University and the University of Texas-Pan American. Weidner’s interview will be on Monday, April 8.

Jason Herbers is currently the assistant athletics director of external operations at Dixie State College Athletics in St. George, Utah. His previous experience includes serving as the assistant athletics director of marketing and promotions at Utah State University and as the director of athletic marketing and promotions at Eastern Washington University. Herbers will visit Montana Western on Friday, April 12.

The three candidate presentations in the STC Great Room are open to the public.
