DILLON — The University of Montana Western men’s basketball coach Steve Keller announced today the signing of Columbia Falls standout Jared Trinastich.
Trinastich is a 6-foot-5, 215-pound forward who averaged 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds a game for the Wildcats this past season. He shot 78 percent from the free throw line and had 33 blocks on the defensive end.
After Columbia Falls beat Dillon in the state championship game Trinastich was named the 2014 Montana Class A State Tournament MVP. He was selected to the HIT Tournament Team. In addition to those honors he was a first team all-state and all-conference performer following his senior season.
Trinastich was a two time All-State and all-conference selection as he earned those honors following his junior year as well. He put his athleticism on display on the football field as well. As a senior, Trinastich was selected to the 2014 Montana East-West Shrine Game as a member of the West Team, was selected as the All-State quarterback, and earned first team all-conference honors. He received second team all-conference honors following his junior year.
“We are very excited that Jared Trinastich from Columbia Falls has decided to join our basketball program at Montana Western,” Keller said. “Jared will be a perfect four man in our league. He can step out and shoot the three and he is capable of scoring with his back to the basket. Jared comes from one of the best programs in the state and has learned from one of the best coaches in the state in Bulldog alum Cary Finberg. Jared led his team to the state title this past season.”
Trinastich plans to study health and human performance while attending Montana Western. He is the son of Richard and Shannon Trinastich.
