DILLON — The University of Montana Western announced the beginning of a national search to permanently fill the position of athletic director today.
The full-time position will replace the current UMW Interim Athletic Director position held by Janelle Handlos. Handlos took over from former UMW Athletic Director Mark Durham in May 2012 and will return to her position as head athletic trainer once a permanent athletic director is chosen.
The search will be led by a 13-member committee representing a diverse cross-section of the university and is chaired by UMW Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance Susan Briggs. The committee will begin reviewing applications until Feb. 6 but will continue accepting applications until the position is filled.
