Butte High will begin its postseason softball run a little earlier than planned.
The Western AA Divisional has been moved up from Thursday and Friday, Butte High coach Ryan Stosich confirmed today. It will now begin Tuesday at Northwest Park and Batch Fields in Helena.
The tournament was moved up because of bad weather in the forecast. Two years ago, the divisional tournaments were rained out. That meant the top four teams from the regular season advanced to the Class AA State tournament, leaving Butte High out.
The Bulldogs enter the tournament as the No.5 seed. They will play Helena High at 11 a.m. (Bracket)
Butte High could play as many as three games on Tuesday.
Other first-round games pit Missoula Sentinel against Missoula Big Sky and Kalispell Flathead against Helena Capital. The tournament will use four fields, so all first-round games begin at 11 a.m.
