The 68th Montana East-West Shrine Game will be played Saturday, July 19 in Laurel.
Practice for the West team, which will once again work out in Butte, begins Saturday afternoon at Montana Tech. The team will practice at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. The East team practices in Billings.
West coaches check in on today, while players check in Saturday morning.
The West roster includes seven players from the Mining City, with Dallas Cook, Peter Granger and Johnny Walker representing Butte High in the game. Kale Guldseth, Wyatt Kingston, Connor McGree and Connor Schulte will represent Butte Central.
Rick Nordahl, who led Dillon to the Class A state title in his first year after taking over for long-time coach Terry Thomas, will serve as the head coach of the West. He will be joined on the staff by long-time Dillon assistant Steve Vezina.
Butte Central assistant Pat Schulte, Connor’s father, will also serve as an assistant on the West team. Other assistants are Tony Arntson of Helena High, Jay Fredrickson of Ennis and Joe McElroy of Missoula Loyola.
Steve gross of Helena Capital will once again serve as the trainer. Butte’s Lindsey Kambich and Bryan Prendergast are the trainers. Jeff Hartwick of Butte is the West team coordinator.
The West team will practice in Butte until it leaves for Laurel on Friday morning. The game, which kicks off at 7 p.m. on Saturday, will be carried live on KBOW with Rocky Erickson of the Northern Sports Network and Paul Panisko of KBOW calling the action.
