West girls down Bulldogs in first-place showdown

BILLINGS — The quick turnaround didn’t work out very well for the Butte High girls’ basketball team.

Less than 24 hours after knocking off Billings Skyview, the Bulldogs fell 65-32 to Billings West in an Eastern AA first-place showdown at the Golden Dome.

The win gives the Bears (15-1 overall, 9-1 conference) the inside track to the regular-season title. Butte High fell to 12-4 and 8-2.

Tylee Manuel scored 25 points to lead the Bears, who took a 33-16 halftime lead and never looked back. The Bears put the game away with a 20-3 run in the third quarter.

Aspen Lovshin scored 14 points to lead Butte High. The Bulldogs also got eight points from Mackenna Carpenter, six from Brittney Tierney and four from Haley Herron.

Butte High is back in action Tuesday when the Bulldogs travel to Bozeman to take on the Hawks. Butte High closes the regular season with Friday’s Senior Night game against Billings Senior.
