Weldon, Joyce, Prigge post wins at Hamilton Masters

HAMILTON — Butte golfers Isaiah Weldon, Tricia Joyce and Ella Prigge posted victories at the Hamilton Masters Tuesday.

The tournament was the third stop on the Southwest Montana Junior Golf Tour. (Results)

Weldon shot a 5-over-par 77 at the Hamilton Golf Club to tie with Helena’s Owen Hathaway for first place in the Jason Day division for boys 16-17.

Butte’s Houston Green placed third at 81, followed by Butte’s Will Hoagland at 82.

Joyce made her season debut and played solo in the Inbee Park division for girls 14-15. She carded an 8-over 80, and that was good for the low round of the day for a girl in any division.

Helena’s Wes Nehl won the Lydia Ko division for girls’ 16-17 with a 93. Butte’s Lexi Williams, who won the first two SWMJGT tournaments this season, placed second at 97.

Prigge won the Lexi Thompson division for girls 12-13. She posted a nine-hole 63 to beat fellow Butte golfer Kennedy Lean by one shot. Butte’s MacKenzie Finnegan took third at 65.

Hamilton’s Tristan Hanson shot a 77 to win the Jordan Spieth division for boys 14-15. Max Feight of Whitehall placed a distant second at 91.

In the nine-hole Rory McIlroy division for boys’ 12-13 Manhattan’s Cullen Visser led the way with a 40. Ryder Conner of Helena placed second at 45.

The next stop on the tour is the Anaconda Challenge, which is July 6 at the Anaconda Country Club.
