Weldon, Joyce, Lean top Hamilton Masters field

HAMILTON — Butte golfers Isaiah Weldon, Tricia Joyce and Kennedy Lean brought home titles from the Hamilton Masters Wednesday at the Hamilton Golf Club.

The tournament was the third stop on the Southwest Montana Junior Golf Tour. Results

Weldon fired a 7-over-par 79 to win the Tiger Woods division for boys 16-17. He beat Helena golfers Riley Lawrence and Owen Hathaway by one shot. Butte’s Houston Green was next at 81.

Joyce and Lean were the lone players in their respective age groups. Joyce fired an impressive 78 to win the Stacey Lewis division for girls 14-15, while Lean came in at plus 30 in the 9-hole Lexi Thompson division for girls 12-13.

Tristan Hanson of Hamilton shot an 88 to win the Rory McIlroy division for boys 14-15. He beat Missoula’s Shawn Ryan by two shots. Butte’s J.J. Mohr finished third at 92.

In the Phil Mickelson boys’ 12-13 division, Hamilton’s Tanner Hanson shot a 40 on nine holes to win. Butte golfer Kaven Noctor placed second at 47.

Also, Big Sky’s Katie Reid shot a 110 to win the Suzann Peterson division for girls 14-15.

The tour will stop again next Wednesday at the Powell County Invitational in Deer Lodge.
