Weldon fifth, Williams seventh in Bozeman

BOZEMAN — Butte High golfers Isaiah Weldon and Lexi Williams cracked the top 10 at the Bozeman Invitational.

The tournament wrapped up with Friday’s second round at a cold, wet Bridger Creek Golf Course.

Weldon, who was tied for third after the first round, finished fifth, while Williams jumped up eight spots on the leaderboard to place seventh.

Weldon, a junior, followed Thursday’s 3-over-par 73 at the Valley View Golf Course with a 4-over 75 on Friday for a 148.

Joey Moore of Billings West won at 142. He followed his 69 with a 73. Helena Capital’s Riley Lawrence placed second at 144. J.R. Small of Bozeman placed third at 145, while Caleb Trost of West placed fourth at 147.

West shot a 301 to overtake Bozeman for first place at 606. The Hawks shot 306 for a 608 and second place. Billings Skyview took third at 626, and Butte High placed fourth at 649 following a final-round 331.

Houston Green finished second on the Butte High team at 164 following a final-round 84. Marcus Lynch shot 171, while Will Hoagland carded 175 and Kaven Noctor shot 177.

Williams, a senior, improved 14 shots for an 83 on Friday. That put her at 180 for the two rounds.

Kameryn Base of Bozeman followed a 79 with an 82 for a 161 to take medalist honors. The Hawks took the top three spots, with Hannah Rosanova shooting 162 and Laurel Ward hitting 168.

The Hawks won the team title at 666 after a 336 on Friday. West took second at 721.

The Bulldogs broke 390 for the first time this season, improving 20 shots for a 387 for a fifth-place 794.

Kelliann Neary finished at 199 after a 102 on the final round. Sadie Starceivch finished at 206, and Katelyn Alley improved 10 shots for a 100 and a 210. Grace Luoma came in at 221.
