Wednesday’s Hot Ticket: Soccer, cross country, volleyball

Prep soccer
Class AA boys’ playoffs: Butte High at Missoula Sentinel, 4:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs open the playoffs on a high note. Butte High is looking to build on Saturday’s huge win at Kalispell Flathead when it takes on the Spartans.

Butte High (3-11) moved up to the No. 6 seed with the victory. Sentinel (9-3-2) tied for second with Glacier, but enters the postseason as No. 3 because of tiebreakers.

Sentinel beat Butte High 7-2 Sept. 1 in Missoula. The Spartans won 7-1 three weeks later in Butte.

Prep cross country
Butte High at Helena Invitational 3 p.m.

Butte High will compete against Helena High and Helena Capital as the Bulldogs get in their final tune up before the state meet.

State is Oct. 24 at the Rebecca Farms in Kalispell.

Prep volleyball
Butte Central at Frenchtown, 7 p.m.

The Maroons hit the road for a rare Wednesday match to take on the Broncs in a Southwestern A battle.

The match is a make up of a one postponed earlier this season over coronavirus concerns.

Central is 2-3 overall and 1-2 in conference after last Thursday’s four-set loss at Corvallis. The match was the first for BC that did not got to a tiebreaker.

BC will travel to Dillon for a match on Thursday.
