Warriors top Tech men

LEWISTON, Idaho — A fast second-half start led Lewis-Clark State to a 60-42 win over Montana Tech Thursday night at Activity Center.

The game was the Frontier Conference opener for both men’s basketball teams. (Stats)

The Warriors (8-1) opened the second half with a 16-3 run that broke open a 28-19 halftime lead. Derrick White scored 11 points to lead a balanced Lewis-Clark State attack that saw the Warriors bench players outscore Tech’s bench 31-7.

Dana Abe scored 19 points, while Cordel Hankerson and Damek Mitchell each scored nine. David Shedrick grabbed 11 rebounds, and Hankerson pulled down 10. The Warriors out-rebounded Tech 51-30.

Mitchell handed out five assists.

Taylor England scored 14 points to lead the Orediggers (8-3). He was the lone Tech player to reach double figures scoring. Nate Ward added eight for the Orediggers. Dylan Pannabecker tossed in six, Blake Dittman and Carson Dummer each scored four, and Nick Fitts and Derius Collins scored three apiece.

The Orediggers are back in action Tuesday. They play host to Montana Western at the HPER Complex.
