Warriors top Frontier golf field

LEWISTON, Idaho — The Lewis-Clark State College golf teams finished ahead of all league teams on the final day of the Frontier Conference Tournament on a blustery Tuesday at the Lewiston Golf and Country Club.

The No. 15 Warrior women shot a 331 in the final round to finish at 657. Rocky Mountain College, which trailed LCSC by just one stroke after round one, shot a 336 on Tuesday to end up six strokes back at 663. Carroll College was third at 695.

On the men’s side, LCSC turned in a 303 and 304 in two rounds on Tuesday to hit a three-round total of 899 and finish well ahead of Rocky Mountain (927) and Westminster (930). Non-league participant Spokane Community College shot 286-299 on Tuesday for the tournament’s top score of 889.

Montana Tech’s men placed seventh at 992. Lee Paulson led the way at 241, while Sean Ryan shot 248, Zach Maassen hit 251, Dustin Kaste carded 252 and Alec Shull shot 263.

Even Omelia of Spokane Community College won medalist honors with a 2-under-par 214. He followed a first-round 74 with a pair of 70s.

The Oredigger women placed fifth at 857. Kiley McConnell led the way at 178. Danielle McCully hit 189, followed by Nikki Ferradas at 205 and Alysha Underwood at 285.

Rocky’s Kyla Clancy topped the individual standings at 153. She shot a 76 after a first-round 77.
