Warriors sweep Dawgs in thrilling twin bill

DILLON — The Straugh Gymnasium was the place to be Saturday night.

Lewis-Clark State College swept past Montana Western in a Frontier Conference doubleheader, with both games going down to the wire.

The No. 21 Warrior women knocked off No. 17 Western in an 82-79 double-overtime thriller before the No. 7 Lewis-Clark State men edged the Bulldogs 70-67.

The women’s game went to overtime deadlocked at 55. After the first extra 5 minutes the teams were tied at 68. (Stats)

Kiara Burlage scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Warriors. Jamie Nielson and Hannah Burland each scored 13, while Jansen Emiston scored 11.

Gracey Meyer scored 17 points to lead the Bulldogs in the regular-season finale. The Bulldogs also got 14 from Brynley Fitzgerald, 12 from Savanna Bignell and Jenni Weber, and 11 from Shainy Mack.

Travis Yenor scored 22 points, while Damek Mitchell added 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Warriors in the men’s game. Lewis-Clark State also got 14 points from Jake Albright and 10 from Trystan Bradley.

Cedric Boone poured in 23 points to lead three Bulldogs in double figures scoring. James Jones scored 17 points, and Connor Burkhart chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds. (Stats)

Max Clark, who scored eight points, also grabbed seven rebounds.
