Warriors lead Frontier golf tourney

LEWISTON, Idaho — The Lewis-Clark State College men’s and women’s golf teams lead after the first round a Frontier Conference golf tournament.

Play was delayed because of frost, so the second round was not complete on Monday. Players will finish the second round and play a third round on Tuesday.

Behind the 1-under-par rounds of James Walkinshaw and Chris Lien, the Warrior men shot a 292 in the first round. They lead Rocky Mountain College and Spokane Community College by 12 shots.

Montana Tech sits in seventh place at 239. Lee Paulson led the Orediggers with a 78. Sean Ryan shot 82, while Zach Maassen carded and 83 and Dustin Kaste and Alec Shull each shot 86.

On the women’s side, Heather Bruce shot a tournament-leading 75, and Lewis-Clark State leads with a 326, which is one shot better than Rocky. Carroll College is third at 340.

Montana Tech is fifth at 427. Kiley McConnell leads the Orediggers with an 89. Nikki Ferradas shot a 96, while Danielle McCully hit 98.
