JOLIET, Ill. – The No. 15 Montana Tech volleyball team continued their early season success with 3-1 victory over (RV) Indiana Tech Saturday morning.
Indiana Tech (5-2) took the first set 25-23 by willing their way through the final points scoring the final five of six scores. The Orediggers hit .333 in the first set with just one error, but the Warriors led with 16 kills to 11.
The Orediggers were hot down the stretch winning the next three sets. The match went 23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-15.
Tech had just seven hitting errors on 115 attempts finishing with a .426 hitting percentage. The Orediggers had the advantage in kills in the match 56-52.
The Warriors finished hitting .202.
Olivia Muir had no hitting errors leading the team with 14 kills. Taylor Henley also had no hitting errors finishing with 13 kills. Muir had a .538 hitting percentage and Henley hit for .619.
Maureen Jessop finished with 11.
McKenna Kaelber had 27 assists and Layton Ryhs add 18 more.
Emma Westra led the Warriors with 14 kills and Taylor Sorg had 11.
No. 15 Montana Tech Spring Arbor (Mich.)
The Montana Tech volleyball team wrapped up the Big Dog Classic hosted by Saint Francis (Ill.) sweeping Spring Arbor (Mich.) 25-17, 25-20, 25-20.
The Orediggers (6-0) dominated the net on offense with 49 kills while the Cougars (2-5) had 25 in the match. Tech finished with a .317 hitting percentage.
Olivia Muir led the attack for the Orediggers again with 15 kills and just two hitting errors finishing with a .542 hitting percentage.
Maureen Jessop had 13 kills and a .385 hitting percentage.
Layton Ryhs and Emma Hanson had the setting duties combining for 46 assists. Ryhs finished with 22 and Hanson had 17.
Kendall Bollenbacher led the Cougars with nine kills.
Montana Tech is off next week before traveling back to the Midwest for another tournament. The Orediggers will see top 25 competition at Viterbo University.
