Volleyball Overpowers Battlin’ Bears 3-1

BUTTE, Mont. – The No. 9 Montana Tech Orediggers overpowered Rocky Mountain handing the Battlin’ Bears their first conference loss 25-19, 25-11, 21-25, 25-15.

The Orediggers (14-2, 3-0) outhit the Battlin’ Bears (13-7, 2-1) 53-39 and finished with 14 blocks. Rocky had six blocks in the match.

Tech had a team hitting percentage of .234 finishing with just 12 hitting errors in four sets. Rocky hit for .061.

Olivia Muir put down 16 kills while hitting for .302 in the match. Muir added three blocks to her totals.

Taylor Henley and Olivia Labeau had 10 kills apiece. Labeau had a .588 hitting percentage and Henley hit .296.

Henley had five blocks and Alexis Umland also posted five. Labeau finished with four blocks.

McKenna Kaelber had 25 assists and Rhys Laytonadded 18 more.

Jelena Jablanov had 25 digs.

Bella Bryan led the Bears with 12 kills. Makenna Bushman had 8 kills.

Brooke Ark had 25 digs.

Montana Tech is home again on Wednesday when they host the Montana Western Bulldogs.
