Xsports4vets, SHIFT and the Upper Canyon Outfitters will hold a veterans horsemanship course riding the trails of Ruby Valley near Yellowstone on Saturday, Aug. 25.
Instruction will be provided by Cassie Ubaldo of Shift, and lunch will be provided by the Upper Canyon Outfitters.
The event is free to veterans with proof of deployment to an area of imminent danger. Transportation will be provided from Butte and Missoula.
For those driving on their own, travel to Alder and take the road (Upper Ruby Road) next to the gas station across from Chick’s Saloon. Drive 23.9 miles (55 minutes) to the ranch.
You will pass the Ruby reservoir and drive by/through one of Ted Turner’s ranches (look for buffalo). You may even see him riding his mountain bike down the road. Follow the road until you see the Upper Canyon Ranch on your right. It is well marked with plenty of parking.
