VB Players of the Week

WHITEFISH — Student-athletes from Carroll College and Rocky Mountain College were named the Frontier Conference Volleyball Players of the Week, the league announced today.

Attacker of the Week: Hailey Copinga of Rocky Mountain College
Copinga is a 5-foot-10 senior right side hitter from Billings. No. 7 Rocky went 2 and 2 at the Grand View Tournament. The Bears beat Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) 3-0 and Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) 3-0, and lost to No. 4 Viterbo (Wis.) 1-3 and Grand View (Iowa) 2-3. Copinga averaged 3.53 kills with a .273 hitting percentage. She averaged 4.53 digs per set including 25 against Grand View.

Brielle Bumgarner of Carroll College, Karina Mickelson of Montana Tech and Kelsey Shaver of the University of Providence were also nominated.

Defender of the Week: Ayla Carpenter of Carroll College
Carpenter is a 5-foot-9 junior outside hitter from Graham, Washington. Carroll went 2-2 at the Aquinas-Cornerstone Classic. The Saints downed Siena Heights (Mich.) 3-0 and Northwestern Ohio 3-2. Carroll lost to (RV) Aquinas (Mich.) 2-3 and Cornerstone (Mich.) 1-3. Carpenter averaged 5.82 digs. She had a 90 percent serving percentage with 10 service aces.

Averi Dyer of the University of Providence, Sabrina Hopcroft of Montana Tech and Ruby Kallenbach of Rocky Mountain College were also nominated.

Setter of the Week: Natalie Hilderman of Rocky Mountain College
Hilderman is a 6-foot-1 sophomore setter from Red Lodge. No. 7 Rocky went 2 and 2 at the Grand View Tournament. The Bears beat Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) 3-0 and Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) 3-0, and lost to No. 4 Viterbo (Wis.) 1-3 and Grand View (Iowa) 2-3. Hilderman averaged 10.20 assists and 2.27 digs per set. Against Grand View, she recorded 51 assists.

Paige Jensen of the University of Providence and Rayna Pilgeram of Carroll College were also nominated.
