EDMONTON, Alberta — Utah and San Diego tied for the title as the Junior America’s Cup concluded Thursday at the Blackhawk Golf Club.
On a day when scores were higher, Utah fired a 217 for a 643 to tie San Diego, which shot a 227. Northern California placed third at 648. (Leaderboard)
Ian Siebers of Bellevue, Washington, shot a final-round 75 on the par-71 course to claim medalist honors with a 6-under-par 207 total.
Brandon Robison of Centerville, Utah, placed second at 210 after a 73 on Thursday. Mateo Fuenmayer of Beaverton, Oregon finished third at 211.
Montana placed 17th in the 18-team field with a 702 total. The Montana team shot a 248 on Thursday.
J.R. Small of Bozeman was the lone Montana golfer to break 80 on the final round. He shot a 79 for a 231 total. Blake Finn of Big Timber hit an 81 for a 236, and Justus Verge of Bozeman carded a 95 for a 242.
Butte’s Kaven Noctor, who qualified by winning the Montana boys’ 16-17 state title last month in Billings, shot 88 for a 259.
The tournament was played at Fairmont Hot Springs in 2018.
