Undefeated Knights Shut Out Bulldog Girls Soccer

By Holly Carpenter

The Missoula Hellgate Knights traveled to Butte Tuesday afternoon to take on the Butte High Bulldogs Girls’ Soccer team for a second time this season. The undefeated Knights left with the win 8 – 0.

Butte started off a bit slow and played reactionary soccer the first half of the game but still shut down most of Hellgate’s scoring chances. The team has found some help in coaching the goalies which was apparent today when Kaylee Lapier played with a ton of confidence, seeing things quickly and clearly. In the end, the Bulldogs completed more passes than their first matchup against Hellgate.

Butte Coach, Steve Shahan, said, “We did a great job of keeping our focus during a physical, fast paced game. Our girls are doing everything we’ve asked of them and more.” Pleased with the improvement the Bulldogs are making, Shahan went on to say, “It’s getting more and more difficult to identify our top players because so many are playing great.”

The Butte Girls go on the road to take on the Big Sky Eagles on Saturday, September 24th, game starts at 1:00.
